THE CHALLENGE

When SumAll came to Next PR, it was an early-stage startup that wanted to scale rapidly and raise brand awareness for its company and product offerings. Its goal to make data transparent for business and not just enterprise was revolutionary at the time, and it needed national awareness to succeed.

HOW WE GOT THERE

SumAll specialized in making business data transparent by connecting various data streams, such as sales and social media, to improve decision-making at a company.

Next PR leveraged SumAll’s company culture and HR policies with its data transparency and applied the concept to newsworthy topics, such as the gender and minority pay gap.

The Next PR team also highlighted SumAll’s passion for data transparency to garner national media interview and business tips opportunities, including an in-person meeting with Adam Bryant at The New York Times.

Bryant featured SumAll’s unique HR perspective in a Corner Office piece. This story catapulted SumAll to a national light and was covered by nearly every national news outlet as well as vertical and trade publications in the U.S. and internationally.

Countless interview opportunities followed and garnered coverage in publications including NPR, FOX Business, The New York Times, The TODAY Show, BBC, The Guardian, TechCrunch, Mashable, SHRM, HR Magazine and more.

THE RESULTS

As coverage trickled in over a year-long period, the story morphed into a movement. SumAll’s CEO was invited to The White House to participate in an equal pay seminar. There began a national conversation of workplaces demanding transparency, equal pay for women and employment of diverse candidates at fair starting salaries.

Thanks to a Wall Street Journal and Next PR relationship, SumAll’s CEO was also invited to speak on a SXSW panel on the topic of open/transparent salaries.

Finally, following national coverage, Next PR secured a relationship with TechCrunch that has resulted in a steady cadence of thought leadership articles authored by SumAll’s CEO.
